You get teleported / walk there.

I remembered that it should but it actually didn't. The day just went past without it. How do I get it to work?

Same thing happened to me today.

Have you modified the gender ratio in the files by any chance?

In my case, yes. Though I don't see why that would cause the town steering committee event to break.
I don't see why the event working as intended is tied into the gender ratio. It makes NO sense in a place like Smallville.

A lot of events draw on there being a random male and/or female because either the image used one, or the text written called for one. Town steering, I think was "a bunch of old men", pretty sure the female upcomer for mayor is predefined.

Although I don't think the event really modifies the character stats at all, so I'm not sure why it needs to call on characters at all. Placeholder for future events, perhaps?

I know it seems stupid but I have altered the gender ratio too and because there were 0 man I was not able to work at the restaurant. It is stupid but part time restaurant job event got broke.

I had to alter the gender ratio to have about %5 male from %0 and only then I was able to trigger the part time work event.

I just wish I knew how to trigger the town steering committee event manually with the debug menu.

That one makes more sense. The restaurant owner and waiter always seem to be female and male--making it easier to have an opportunity to seduce someone of your preferred binary gender, seeing as you get a free +10 friendship with them.

Then steering committee makes sense too since you get to choose between a male and a female nominee?

No, it doesn't. The game will still generate special males even with a 0% male population.
Specials like Albert Newton, Taddeus Lynch (though we never ever see him), Jack Strokewood and William Holmes will ALWAYS generate no matter what you do.

I think this place was intended for hints, not gameplay/bug reports :P

The issue is likely that the game marks the actual Town Meeting (which never was implemented) in the calendar, instead of the story one (27th of March instead of February).  So basically the one you're looking for happens at February 27, 2010 (was using a hardcoded check too), 18-21:00 - which is easy to miss if not marked.

I've tweaked it to mark the correct date, though the events are a dated mess anyway.

So I am confused is there 2 meetings? I've passed feb 27 and mar 27 neither of them triggered the event. So is this a bug?
