Low Popularity of the Game

I've been passively following HHS+ for about 7-8 years (since around 2018), replaying it every 1-2 years, and I just can't take it anymore! This is my cry from the heart.

I've known about the forum for a long time but never really paid much attention to what's written here. And for a while now, I've had this burning question:
Why is this game so underrated?

In my opinion, it's one of the best and most engaging games in its genre—let's call it "school management" - even if we completely ignore all the NSFW content. I'm not tired of replaying it even after 4 or 5 times. Each time, I discover something new and find a more optimal way to run the school so that everything doesn't devolve into total chaos. I've never actually reached a logical ending (does one even exist?).

I've never come across another game with such a well-crafted combination of mechanics. There was some abandoned school management game a long time ago (I can't even remember the name) and a scripted visual novel like "The Headmaster". Over the last 5-6 years, I've played most of the well-known (and not-so-well-known) NSFW titles, but they're mostly either linear Ren'Py novels or RPG Maker games that are often clunky to play. Either way, none of them even come close to the sheer depth of mechanics that HHS offers.

Meanwhile, over the past few years, we've been flooded with hundreds of games that get tons of attention on Itch.io, rake in piles of money on Patreon, while HHS seems to be stuck in obscurity. I've never seen it in any top game lists, and there's almost no news about it. The game is developing slowly and steadily, even though I feel like it has insane potential for growth—so much so that I can't even imagine it all. There are probably hundreds of videos on YouTube about some random "Louna RPG", but I could barely find any mentions of HHS.

Why not try promoting it, monetizing it, or releasing it on popular platforms? Especially since it's clear that the project isn't abandoned and is still being updated with new content.

Maybe I'm just in some kind of information bubble where there's simply nothing about HHS, but it honestly makes me sad that so few people know about it and that it's not a permanent top contender in its genre.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, and feel free to share any info—maybe I'm missing something. And sorry if my post is a bit messy; I hope I got my point across clearly.

The game's thread on F95 has over 6 million views and over 300 pages of comments. That's probably not unique views, but at least there is a following.

One reason for not promoting it openly is that the scenario is still a somewhat sensitive area (even if there are no underage characters, the school topic alone carries certain connotations that some sites likely would not want to have associated regardless of that).

Monetizing has always been out of the question for me. For one because so many people have contributed over the years to it that it would not be fair to any to rake in the money ourselves. And we use plenty of "stolen" content from all over the web, and justifying that as fair use for a hobbyist project only really works as long as we don't make money off of other people's work.
Besides, the way payment providers are currently going haywire and Steam just outright booting most adult games, such games in general may have trouble to get monetization working in the future.

I also would not really call it underrated. Imho, the game is far from finished and having a proper goal. The gameplay currently consists of mostly RNG, and the player cannot really make many informed choices. Hopefully we will get better in that department.

For me when I played it, it just seemed like there was very little to do. I've decided to come back to this only because of the massive following it has, and its also tied into the same place that brothel king is here on hhs.net;

It just felt really aimless and didn't have a lot of interesting progression feelings. I'm trying again with a bigass stack of mods and seeing what kind of fun I can get from it though.

Probably because the game doesn't hold your hand with "Go to X to do Y" type things.
The whole point is to see what's out there - it's a slow burn style that accelerates the further you go.
The game is based (and has expanded significantly) on an older game called Hentai High, I think. Made by Poolka and it didn't have anything outside of the school. Days would roll into each other with very little difference. The most you would have to do is assign teachers to subjects and go perving around the school. Stat progression (if there was any, can't remember) was skewed - high punishment, little reward.
I played it for a while and got bored. This game, while not perfect, is a marked improvement.

To get anything of real lewd value going, you have to have the Private Eye investigate your staff in a bid to get them to agree to your plans during PTA meetings.
But there is a problem with the PTA meetings. All the members have power of Veto and will use it if they're not corrupted enough.
Sometimes you have to do things so other things will happen. Sometimes you have to wait. Sometimes you have to bump into specific people to start or continue their corruption chains.

What mods are you considering running with?
