Reputation editing

One of the issues I'm having with the game is that as I progress, maintaining reputation becomes increasingly and unfairly impossible.

Sex with others tends to make my characters Arousal spike. Not exactly what you would expect as in the real world having an orgasm tends to reduce excitement.

The reputation points from talking to adults on the computer are .01 etc

I'd like to know where in the debug the reputation points are held to manually edit them as this does not appear to me to be a feature of the game which is balanced or makes coherent sense.

Also, make sure you're on the latest version, and if you're seeing particular unexpected arousal results, maybe submit a bug report? There've been some arousal changes in the 1.10 series, and it's possible new bugs (unexpected interactions) have been introduced while fixing/restructuring other arousal interactions.

Something the game lacks (AFAIK) is a post-coital "sage mode" (that's the anime trope, I don't know what else to call it), where arousal drops off in the period immediately after sex, even if exposed to arousing events. That would take care of most of the surprising arousal spikes we might see, I think.

Check what fetishes you've set for your character.
For example, if you've set Mind Control, Exhibitionism and Risky Places to high levels, it's going to happen the way you describe.

Reputation can be increased in a number of ways such as Jogging with your Students (Park, Weekend, Once per week) and returning lost purses and wallets without taking money or reward.

You can cheat yourself reputation in the Debugger (as you might know) by clicking in the box at the bottom of the Debug window and typing ADD REPUTATION X where X is the value you want added.

@TBBle, I believe that's what the Afterglow Effect was supposed to help mitigate but it seems powerless in the face of the recent Fetish system.

Between yours and the other two replies I think I know whats happening now. The debugger shows all the fetishes are applied even tho many are in negative values. I think that it may be having a funny cross combination of effects. I'll have to start a vanilla game again and be very selective about the fetishes (I must admit I wasn's sure about the way that they are supposed to work).

They seem to just be a way to make the game harder to play?

Thanks for the replies all of you... Much more illuminated now.

One advantage of fetishes are that some provide free starting equipment, e.g. Hypnotism fetish will start you with a magazine saving 5 days of skill-training as you can then read twice a day up to skill level 10, and bondage fetish starts you with a free slave collar.

There aren't many events that hinge on fetishes, but I'm fairly sure some exist, and perhaps more should have fetish-check paths in them, e.g. I reported a bug about the Sayako chain where one scene checks fetish (or maybe it was social goal?) and the following one doesn't, which can lead to inconsistent text.

Arousal isn't purely a negative, as long as you manage it with a little care. In a no-hypno no-drugs run (apart from quest-mandated), I usually find pretty early there are more opportunities for sex acts (which can increase corruption, relationship, and loyalty, and reduce inhibition) than I had arousal to actually undertake them. But this style does require some care to not get seen too-aroused in public. I wish more of the quests had non-"magic" paths to them to make this style of play more-viable.

But yeah, taking too many fetishes is probably going to be "hard mode" in terms of managing arousal, particularly ones that can overlap in a scene.

This one sounds like it might be a bug, if the negative fetishes are increasing the arousal outcome, instead of decreasing it. I haven't looked at the code for applying multiple fetishes, but since the numeric fetish system was introduced recently, maybe there's an issue in the calculations when a scene triggers both positive and negative fetishes.
