5P, when you want your teachers to actually teach.

0.0.1 Release: "Unpretty self-eval"

NOTE: This is a Proof of Concept. If someone wants to build it out more, go ahead, but I mainly did it to see how feasible it was, and because I had a spare morning with nothing else particularly on. I've only tested it with a few teachers in April of the first year, so there may be surprises in some of the later-unlock subjects. But I'll keep it in my games for now, and bug reports are welcome.

The intent of this mod is to build out some tools to get more information from your teachers about what is affecting their General Qualification for the subjects they teach, and potentially help with it. Useful both because a lot of this information is opaque, and particularly intended to be valuable for a Principled Principal run, if we ever get goal evaluation.

The reality of this mod is that right now, you can ask one of your teachers to self-evaluate their teaching, and they will textualise the otherwise-hidden things that influence their General Qualification. Finally you can ask Jessica Underwood why she's such a poor Swimming teacher, despite all her experience.

Included are a couple of utility FunctionLibrary events that others may find useful:

I don't particularly plan to work on it more, but beyond nicening the actual text, I had a few ideas lying around:

First, this should probably take like half an hour, improve your authority and the teacher's authority and/or loyalty, and be limited to weekly or something, like a real game event. And take place in the principal's office, like a real one-on-one with a manager. Also paper dolls etc should be rigged up, of course.

At the very least, during class is a terrible time for it... Although maybe that would be a way to reduce a teacher's authority, pulling the teacher into a meeting while they're in the middle of teaching a class is a pretty bad look... "Claire Fuzushi x Cosplay Club" chain would benefit from this, as it advances with lowering of her Authority.

More conversational flow would be nice. It's very info-dump right now, and I'm unsure how transparently numeric or wordy it should be. Also I got lazy at the end, and the stat-comparison is just whether or not the teacher meets the base value; more graduations would be nice, since a lot of the stats have a Base Value of 0 (or 100 for Inhibition) and hence the teacher is always going to be "doing fine".

Also further mod extensions from just information to some way of actually influencing the stats that are mentioned. Unsure if this would be through giving items (like the miniquests) although that would require new items in many cases.

Otherwise, perhaps just giving money for gym/textbooks/adult services/etc. Actually, this ends up a bit like Beth Manili's main quest chain, without the sex. For $1000 in books, she gets 2 Corruption, 5 Education, 5 Intelligence, and 9 Loyalty. So there's somewhat of a model there. Not the Corruption, that's just Beth being a hornbag... $1000 for 10 stat points and 9 loyalty over a week sounds good to me. Too pricey to abuse, but when you can afford it, delivers value.

Side-note: This means work-paid visits to the strip club for the Anatomy teacher, so clearly this idea has value. ^_^

On that note, I just realised that I didn't handle Inhibition correctly, so it will report a negative percentage and inverted status. Also, rounding to the nearest percent means at least one subject I noticed will add up to 101% influences. Being more wordy and less numeric will help with that.

I wonder if an info tab for active teachers giving their general qualification for subjects would help? Same info is available in the school management UI though, and I don't think it's that useful outside that UI.

Another idea, in a similar vein to the 1:1 above, would be a weekly staff meeting, similar to the "Do paperwork" button, but fixed schedule. The idea here would be to affect staff member work-related stats as a group, e.g., Intelligence or Education, stats used by classes and not protected by HasQuest. It would probably include options to target people specifically; mostly this is to support lowering Claire Fuzushi's authority in order to advance the Cosplay Club; spending an hour cutting someone off in a meeting every time they try to speak is devastating to that person's authority. Or so I've heard...

Another idea in the big pile of things that I will probably never get around to: Pre-hire interviews with teachers who can tell you their two best subjects (from the currently-available subjects) to help with hiring decisions. Might even be able to finally use the GoodInSubject field too... Although AFAIK it has no gameplay effect so that might just be confusing.

Of course, open to other ideas to make the Principal actually do the Principal part of the job... But no commitment to work on them (or any of the above).

The mod is currently stateless (as long as you don't have the interaction screen open) so it should be safe to add and remove from any arbitrary game.

Based on an idea mentioned at https://henthighschool.net/index.php?msg=4822
