Making girl packs more accessible

Was pondering on this question and I might have come up with a possible idea and it would only come with a few caveats.

The site Luscious.net is an image hosting website that I would assume most users here would be aware of and its structure of albums and tags as well as users ability to download any album should prove suit to most our needs.

The tagging system could be used to both find albums for BK but also allow users to sort by characters, Hentai/real porn, and what areas are featured in the pack i.e. Geisha, BDSM, Cosplay...
They have a favouriting feature which could be used for new players to see the most popular image packs, or even fulfil the idea of user based pack ratings, though I am unsure how one would translate a numerical rating to a grading system. also it could interfere if other random people are also liking the albums.

it would also be good as people could use the rest of the site to find images for packs

The site is well kept and moderated so the risk of losing access to the packs due to a site shutdown or loss is by far slimmer (no hate to the HHS crew our gracious hosts)
however their site rules would limit certain content containing; Explicit lolicon/Shotacon(is not outright banned more so if the character is depicted under the age of 10 or is definitely described as underaged within the image its banned at moderators discretion, otherwise its usually fine so long as its properly tagged and put in the lolicon genre), Realistic Lolicon/Shotacon, 3D/CGI Lolicon/Shotacon, Ai Generated Lolicon/Shotacon, Realistic Animal genitalia, And any content from certain models or sites listed in their banned content section though that last one shouldn't effect most packs I'm aware of.

Their uploads do have a restriction of 50Mb per image and only 500 images can be uploaded at a time(not as in album limit is 500 just that you can only process that many in one upload). And downloading from the site requires you to go through 9cloud their hosting service (which isn't bad or necessarily slow just I know most people prefer to use Mega or other file sharing services), And the BK.ini file would need to be linked in description of the album.

Their site also has Blog and chat utilities that we could use as well.

Also whilst they are a very welcoming community I suspect a sudden takeover of their system with many albums and several Gigs of images needing processing would be seen as a bit rude and untoward. I do have access to the mods chat and the owner of the site is fairly friendly so I could initiate liaison if people would be interested in this idea to get permission and perhaps assistance in setting this up i.e. setting up a genre for specifically BK packs and/or getting moderator access for certain people to manage it.

anyway just an idea let me know if people would generally be interested in this or if you see issues

The site seems kinda awkward to navigate, and there appears to be a quite serious download limit?

Also, do they respect original file names in albums? That's the entire point of girl packs, so without that it's going to be pointless.

I think getting curated girl pack collections is probably going to be more convenient, but probably also harder. And I'm not sure how you're going to get pack makers to switch.

If these issues can be addressed, it does seem a reasonably workable idea overall.

Edit: As to wikis, there's again the problem that mainstream wikis won't play nice with an adult game, especially one with a slavery theme. And I don't think we're going to set up our own if the overall website situation is already what it is.
And with strange aeons even death may die...

admittedly I don't know what the site looks like for someone without an account(which is free) though I find navigating it fine

think download limit isn't bad with an account either although I might have some service unlocked as a mod(someone would need to check it out)

and all file names are 100% respected

Gutsandguts

I find the Google Doc is pretty much fine but it's the next step of Mega that fails for me, sometimes people have their packs in organized folders which is neat, sometimes they just don't work.
I don't know if Mega has just locked me out or something but I downloaded maybe 10 packs yesterday and now Mega just doesn't even load for me which is a pain in the ass, tried deleting my cookies and all that, nothing.

What about Bunkr? I think it's supposed to be good for keeping things up for years. Could just have people on the forum collect specific girl types in separate folders like Anime, Real, Game, Disney etc etc
A fresh Google Doc that links to Bunkr folders might be more reliable.

Store your files in git, use discord for communication. Dunno how expensive discordc-bots are, but you can definitely find one that will handle ratings.

Albatross

Yeah discord is likely the play here now that I think about it. In the HHS discord there are threads for each mod with an active author, and I've seen other similar things for other games.

There each pack author could have their own thread, organizing it and updating it consistently however they like and there could be another thread for all the legacy/inactive author packs ran by a mod.

Jman

Hmm, how is the BK Discord doing? Because it's always been the problem of packmakers not being actively managing their stuff, and there never being anyone to step up to the 'ran by a mod' duty. And Discord is a black hole for anyone not on it or not looking in the right place.

Also, isn't storing girlpacks of questionable legality, saucy content and (comparatively) massive size on Github is just asking to get nuked?
And with strange aeons even death may die...

Gutsandguts

Yeah not so sure about Discord, there'd definitely have to be a crackdown on lolicon stuff and possibly bestiality.

I don't think that should matter too much right? Unless I misunderstood it you wouldn't be posting every single image in a pack there. Just the info, some pics which can possibly be just a portrait and the link for the pack.

It would mostly be for discussing, curating and organizing the packs, not to mention talk about the game in general.

As for this I don't know, we would have to try it to find out. But in my experience, many people nowadays use discord for other things as well, so they're active there one way or another. Which tends to make them more active than in a forum or dedicated site for just one game they check every now and then.

How would that be substantially different from the spreadsheet? Including images there was discussed once upon a time, too. And I think the general gist of it was 'one image isn't going to be particularly useful for deciding to get a pack'?

Discussing and curating can be done as well on the forums. Better than Github, even. The only real advantage there would be collaboration tools - which we already mostly had with the spreadsheet.

So, yeah, dunno. IMO, unless someone steps up and starts pushing a new effort to organise girlpack information, the choice of tools/discussion environment isn't going to matter too much.

I don't know anything about github, I'm one of those that have trouble even downloading from there sometimes. IMO the issue with spreadsheets and sites like github is that the classic programmer/experienced user trap of assuming the things we're used to are commonplace for everyone. Realistically, most users aren't used to working on spreadsheets much less github pages.

Even the users that do,  would probably only use those solely for the girl packs, which makes it very easy to drop. In Discord you're already online for whatever reason anyway so it's much easier to keep at it.

There are also other advantages like:
-The fact that it is a lot more intuitive for the majority of users.
-Having the pack discussions there might get some regular users to give their own shot at making girl packs, compared to the forums, a spreadsheet or a github page.
-The fact that with which author having their own thread there would be no accessibility/who can edit it issues.
-The fact that you can post some, or even a lot of images if you want, as long as you don't put the more risky ones in. Each thread author could decide how much effort they wanna put into that or just the portrait and link.
-You can do direct feedback and request for each pack author in their own threads
-Honestly even if it doesn't work, the discussion itself on how to make girl packs more accessible would be more fluid in discord.

InfiniteTomorrow

Used to use https://www.loverslab.com/ for skyrim. perhaps the staff could open a tab for BK?

A spreadsheet is just a (very efficient) way of organising information. A player doesn't need to know how to manipulate a spreadsheet, just search for what you want. But if you want to, you can.

Otherwise, nothing prevents you from having this discussion on the BK Discord. I'm not going to be there, but perhaps others will.

I kinda doubt much will come of it, since the main problem is still getting the train rolling, but perhaps I'm mistaken. And in my experience, if all discussion and dissemination of girl packs goes into Discord and nothing comes out, you'll lose some of the current participants.

This is a little off topic, but I think girl packs would be more accessible and friendlier to noobs if there was an easy way to hide pictures you don't want to see again, in the game itself. Like imagine you're a noob and download someone else's pack, then start playing and you see a photo you don't want to see again, it would be super convenient to have a button to hide that photo from showing in the future.

Side note, but is it programmed in that only a % of the total photos will be shown on each load? I swear I see the same photos in a session, then a bunch of new photos in the next session. Thanks all and love the game!

Think this is already supposed to be a feature, pressing DEL while a picture is up will tag it to not be shown in the future. though it hasn't really been working for me. So i generally end up going into the girl pack and deleting the picture manually.
