Making girl packs more accessible

Hi guys,

Judging by recent discussions, one thing that might need improvement is how we list and access girl packs. I am not sure if the spreadsheet is still maintained and whether it still answers people's needs.

Some sort of curation or crowd-sourced rating seems needed, but I am not sure what would be the best way to implement that. The forum format is not really suited to that I'm afraid.

So, calling on all good ideas, what could we do to make girl packs easier to browse and pick, especially for newer players?

The forum format is absolutely fine for managing the curation result. It's kinda crap for actual curating.

...but we don't have anything else, do we? Forum polls, Google Forms, or a new incarnation of the spreadsheet seem to be the obvious ways to do that.

I guess you could just download all the packs, and ask a chatbot which are best? Probably not much worse than asking a few dozen web deviants. :P

What if we have a likes and dislikes button or a 1-5 star system like f95 and show the results in the database. But since Google Docs doesn't have that ability I suppose we have to embed the result via a Google Form or something?

Seems like a hassle though ngl. I doubt enough players will willingly want to give a rating for each pack they play with for the system to be substantial... imo.

Yeah, lack of curators was always the biggest problem.

I find the google doc difficult to use, but it could be a local issue with the browser settings I have.

If I sort for 'has bk ini' then also try to sort by image count/quality/tags etc, it only sorts by the last option. I don't see a way to filter the results and narrow it down. Which could be how the doc is set up, or incompetence of the user (me). Accurate tagging and filtering would go a long way, as would dropping links to outdated/low quality packs.

Another would be that many of the individual listings go to mega folders. Going do the doc will send you back to the same repositories repeatedly. "Didn't I already see these?" May want to create a page that lists what can be found at the folder level.

We use Tencent's online document to share and update resources. I don't know if it's available overseas, but it's very convenient in China. The owner of the document can lock specific content so that other users cannot edit it. Users of Tencent QQ or WeChat can obtain editing rights by clicking on the link. You can view the document content without logging in. I think there should be something similar overseas?

Hope you can get some idea from this.

This seems to be just Google Docs with some extra Big Brother. :-\ We already have that in the girlpack spreadsheet, and it's kinda grown out of control now.

Yeah I used that before. It's pretty much just a inferior google spreadsheet, and much more difficult for foreigner to access because tencent had closed off qq registration for non china resident.

It seems like a system of keywords could be both easy to grasp for people and cheap to implement in _BK.ini and even as filters in the game. Keywords like 'real girls', 'disney', 'full story', and so on.

Is there a spot to report issues with girl packs on the list? For example, I've noticed that the pack creator Bshock's packs seem to all be deleted from Mega. At least all the ones I've tried.

I'm not sure there's anyone with sufficient access to the spreadsheet still around. I think we lost the fellow with full access a while ago, but there were some with partial powers (Leortha for one).

Didnt seen Leortha around for quite some time by now. So i dont think there is anyone here with access to the spreadsheet.

Edit: Last time he was online was at november 14.

I think there were others besides Leortha, but I can't recall who offhand. DarkFire maybe?

I feel like the ideal would be some kind of website where people can look up the characters by booru-like tags, there could be some for which series the character is from (or real people/OCs), others for fringe content, like furry, futa etc, one for the author, and of course the main page would contain the links the girl pack ratings and maybe a short description by the pack author.

I think a wiki-adjacent site would work much better than a spreadsheet. I don't know how feasible this is though.
